The Bile Duct may be injured during surgery for Gall Bladder which might or might not be detected during the operation.
If the injury is detected during the operation the best is to repair is at that time only.
But if detected later then the repair is difficult and the primary surgeon might not be able to tackle it.
This is repaired by open surgery.
